Practical Philosophy
In my final role at St James Senior Boys School I developed a comprehensive philosophy curriculum which developed thinking skills, self-awareness and a moral compass for pupils between years 7 and 13.
I am also a trained storyteller and use mythical stories and folk tales to develop thinking and emotional depth in young people. I am also an experienced mindfulness coach and qualified .B mindfulness in schools practitioner.
English and Literacy Tutoring
Effective literacy and written communication are essential to academic success.
Through imaginative and creative approaches, I can help develop any young person's love of reading and writing.
Understanding the exam criteria and what the examiner is looking for guarantees exam success at GCSE and A Level in English Language & Literature.
With a wealth of experience teaching English over a long career, I can facilitate a young person's steps to success and aid them with exam practice and effective feedback on how to improve.

Revision Skills
Making Revision Fun and Effective
Many young people find revision onerous and frustrating, the reheating of cold knowledge without context.
The secret of effective revision is to keep it 'fresh' by imaginatively changing classroom notes into other engaging and meaningful forms that make new connections in the brain, whether a mind-map, a diagram, revision cards, spider diagram, quizzes or through Socratic dialogue.
Short-term memory then is embedded in long-term recall.
Let me help make revision fun and effective.
Curriculum Collapse
Whilst designing and implementing Gifted & Talented programmes with Dr David George and Mr Ron Lewin, I developed 'Curriculum Collapse' as an imaginative and creative approach for all pupils.
This co-creative approach holistically stretched all pupils and led to the following themed initiates: Renasissance Week, The Pegasus Spy School, a Spanish language and culture week and at my last school, St James Senior Boys' School, The Harmony Project, which is sponsored by King Charles.
